♥ My new holiday computer wallpaper ♥
My town (Asheville, NC) is lucky enough to host the National Gingerbread House Competition, and last night, Jarrod and I checked out this year's entrants. I won't bore you with the winners, but here are my favorites:
Adult category: Très Parisian! Très jolie!
Teen category: Rainbow food truck! Figgy Puddin!
Youth category . . .
WAL-MART! SECURITY CAMERA! HA HA HA!!!

I am curious to what inspired the youth to choose Wal-Mart for their gingerbread house. I guess there are toys there or maybe they really like Where The Heart Is.
ReplyDeleteI was really hoping the Walmart one would have a gingerbread Juggalo.
ReplyDeleteDo they still display them at the Grove Park? DH and I are going after Christmas - we've been once before and looking at all the gingerbread houses was our fave part!
ReplyDeleteConnie — *Where the Heart Is high-five*
ReplyDeleteJade — OMG LET'S ENTER A GINGERBREAD JUGGALO GATHERING NEXT YEAR.
Tracy — Yes! Though the longer you wait, they more they've fallen apart. (Though that's pretty fun, too.)
I struggle with the little kits (maybe I shouldn't admit that?) so I can imagine the work that goes into those! :) Maybe next year I'll take a trip up there to see that, it looks pretty neat.
ReplyDeleteBest contest ever! Although it makes me feel a bit bad about my gingerbread-house-making skills... Just got my library's copy of Lola! Can't wait to read it! I just finished my novel and am in the process of querying. Do you have any tips?
ReplyDeleteWow, I only wish I could that! I can't even get my gingerbread houses to stay up! They always end up being gingerbread houses in earthquake or tornado zones. . . :)
