It feels uncomfortable to post this today, because this morning's news is so sad. I hope all of my friends and readers in Japan are safe. And I hope the tsunami warnings for the west coast here in America come to nothing. Much love and hugs to you all.
So . . . a bit of good news . . .
Penguin's fall catalog has arrived! Which means that I'm proud and thrilled for you to meet two very, very special people:

In this companion novel to Anna and the French Kiss, two teens discover that true love may be closer than they think.
For budding costume designer Lola Nolan, the more outrageous the outfit—more sparkly, more fun, more wild—the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins move back into the house next door.
When the family returns and Cricket—a gifted inventor and engineer—steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.
If you're curious about the connection to Anna, take a peek outside of Lola's window. A beautiful row of Victorian style *SAN FRANCISCO* houses! And you know who recently moved to the city . . .
Also! ALSO!
Anna and the French Kiss will be released as a paperback on August 4th, and it'll contain a teaser for Lola. Eep!!!
Are you excited? I'm excited!
EDITED TO ADD: A lot of people on Twitter are asking me about her purple hair. Nope! She just owns a looooooooot of wigs. ;)
EDITED AGAIN TO ADD: And here's the related strange and funny story regarding Lola's male model on Kiersten White's blog.
KIERSTEN: I know that guy!
ME: Ha ha.
KIERSTEN: No. I know that guy.

ReplyDeleteWell, I'm partial to the name Lola AND sparkly attire, (when it comes to sparkly, more is more, and there's never too much) and I grew up in and around SF...almost eerie. (I've never even met a boy named Cricket, though.) Love the cover and look forward to reading. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
Also, prayers for Japan. The videos are devastating, heartbreaking.
Hugs,
Lola

ReplyDeleteOMG! Dude. OMG. Dude. OMG.
ReplyDeleteShe's no longer a Naughty Novel. She's a PRETTY!!!
LOVES LOVES LOVES!
Love it! Too cute :) I recommended Anna to a teen at BN yesterday (her mom was with her and said she doesn't do scary or paranormal - so of course your book came to mind!) Unfortunately they didn't have any in stock. So hopefully they rushed home and ordered it online.
ReplyDeleteI want to be Lola now. The purple hair rocks. hehe. It makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to have a ray of sunshine like Cricket and Lola on a day like today.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how they end up together.
You must be thrilled....second novel looks so purty.
Shelley
caaaaan't waaaaaait!
ReplyDelete*jumps up and down and claps with joy*
ReplyDeleteBAH I'M SO EXCITED FOR LOLA!!! :D
ReplyDeleteYOU JUST MADE MY DAY!!
ReplyDeleteI love the cover. I devoured Anna and can't wait to do the same with Lola. Yay!
ReplyDeleteYour covers are SO ADORABLE FOREVER. Squee!
ReplyDeleteI AM SO EXCITED!!! I CANT WAITTTTT
ReplyDeleteSo Cricket moves back to San Francisco? is it possible that he is St-Clair and Anna's son?? I want to know what is the link with Anna! Im dying to know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteso excited! but also...a little bummed. you see, MY WIP has a girl called lola who loves sparkly things in it AND shes the best friend of a girl falling in love again with a guy who has A TWIN SISTER who HAS MOVED BACK INTO HER LIFE. see the connection, no?
ReplyDeleteYAY! I'm super excited!
ReplyDeleteI feel so bad for being late to the game but I do have a good excuse. Thankfully I have a good friend who text me to let me know when i am missing important things online. She also let me borrow her ARC of Where She Went which I just finished! Thanks for recommending them.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the cover and synopsis release! I really can't wait to read about Lola and I'm thrilled to know that there would be glimpses of Anna in this one.
ReplyDeleteEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! So happy! Yay! Lola has left the building :-) I'm totally neenering right back. Everybody: I HAVE READ IT. HA HA! AND IT IS AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! I know I LOVE this one as much as ANNA ;o) Can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteHear that?
ReplyDeleteIt's me. Getting pumped up for this release! I love all the little details of the cover!
I'd have hoped for an even more outrageous outfit, but the purple hair is cool. More people will underestimate your book due to the cover (really not much that can be done; people see a happy "contemp" cover and they think fluff), but it's going to be amazing!!
Love the cover! Not to mention the awesome story to go with it. I think it makes the book even more memorable! (And I'm definitely jealous that Kiersten has gotten to read it already *sigh*)
ReplyDeleteI'm super excited to read it! I marked down the release date in my planner and you can bet I will be rushing to the store to get it!!
Mac :)
I'm am sooo excited now! This cover will look great on my bookshelf (next to Anna of course). :D
ReplyDeleteGorgeous--and a nice match in tone with Anna's!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I love the perky (of course!)vibe, the sun, the blue sky, the painted ladies. Already I'm sold.
ReplyDeleteI love Lola and Cricket, too. She looks exactly like the handful you've been complaining about, which makes her my kind of girl.
Good job penguin people, fantastic job Stephanie.
I finished Anna and the French Kiss on Friday and was planning to hunt you down ... er, find your blog... when Kiersten linked you on her blog. Too funny about the cover model!
ReplyDeleteAnna is my new favorite book and I'm so excited to read Lola! I'm reviewing it on my blog tomorrow. (melaniehoo.com/hoosblog)
aaaawwsssoommee :)
ReplyDeleteNoooo, September is in... *counts on fingers* seven months. CAN'T WAIT!
Ok, that book can NOT get in my hands quick enough! Adorable cover too! And i almost peed my pants when you pointed out the SAN FRANCISCO houses!! I miss Anna and St. Clair way too much. It's not healthy. ;)
ReplyDeleteSo adorable! And the girl is pretty cute too.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read it.
La-la-la-la Lola!
How cute is that couple? I'm soo excited for September, I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteGreat cover! Now my copy of Anna and the French Kiss won't be lonely.
ReplyDeleteCute cover, and hilarious coincidence that Kiersten knows him!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWas thinking on buying it sept. 29 (e-book) but now I think I need the hardcover (the wig, the colors, the houses!) even though it means waiting more than a month because of the shipping.
That is really helpful. It provided me a number of ideas and I'll be placing them on my web site eventually. I'm bookmarking your blog and I'll be back. Thanks again!
