The "P" Word

Hi, everyone! I'm hanging out over at Frankie Diane Mallis' blog today, giving advice about something I have no right to give advice about.

I hope you check it out!

And here's my favorite video on the subject:

That is so (painfully) me.

Thank you, everyone, for the New York City recommendations in my last post. Please, please, please keep leaving suggestions in the comments!

  1. Now that's procrastination. Send us to someone else's blog for a discussion of procrastination. LOL :)

I'm a procrastinator too. Nap time is almost over and I still haven't worked on my revisions.

  2. Wheeee thanks for coming by!!!

  3. Posted a long-ish comment on Frankie's blog! :) Loved your post there. I'm a new follower of your blog, but I've loved what I've read so far and am eager for more. :D

  4. Hi Steph! My name is Steph, too. I'm new to your blog--I found it through another blog and I like it so much I already put your book on my Goodreads "to read" list (which is a big deal since I don't read much contemporary realistic anything).

I just moved to NY in December and haven't done too much in the city (I live in Brooklyn) but I have a few suggestions for you! The first is a really cool place I heard about called Alice's Tea Cup. I haven't been there yet but it's all Alice-themed and sounds fabulous from the website :) http://www.alicesteacup.com/

Also, I don't know if you are a picture book person, but if you are and like the art of Leo and Diane Dillon, their is a gallery in Brooklyn that exhibits their work: http://www.fusiondesignsny.com/fusiondesignsgallery/gallery_enter.html

And lastly, there is a Curious George exhibit at The Jewish Museum: http://www.thejewishmuseum.org/exhibitions/curiousgeorge

Hope one (or all!) of these spark your interest!

  5. This is really funny - I wonder if there's a procrastination bug going around? Because I just posted a song about procrastination on my blog a few days ago, in the style of the 12 Days of Christmas. Anyways, you're not alone! I've had such a hard time buckling down recently, maybe it's the weather? It's finally nice over here (in Lyon) and the pretty flowers are calling me!

  6. OMG that video. Ouch. It's like he's been spying on me!

  7. How funny! In an effort to procrastinate on my writing, I thought I'd visit my favorite blogs to see if there were new posts. And here was one to remind me that I mean to be writing today, not reading blogs. Thanks, Stephanie!

I really appreciate your comments about writing as work. I don't procrastinate (much!) in my professional work, and I want to take my writing at least as seriously as I take the work I do to earn a living. So.... back to it!

  8. This video is AWESOME!

  9. I watched the video now because I didn't want to think about watching it when I was trying to get my stuff done...

  10. That was an excellent and funny video, and I could certainly identify with it! Ah, procrastination. The things I've done to put off working.

Just discovered you and your book (by accident, no less), and am already really excited to read it in December!

I'm also Team Gale, and approve. I also approve of your fetish for James McAvoy.

  11. This is my dad!! To funny!!!

  12. Oh my gosh! This is me way too often. Only, replace omelet with ice cream.
